Left home 04:20-ish 🚴🌆

Stopped at police outpost, waited for #BikeBuddy who at 05:40 still didn't show so I pedaled to the meetup 🚩 by myself -- the planned rideout was 6AM. Relied on nav app. Almost got to #RizalMonument in #Luneta aka Km 0, but the road was blocked due to festivities. 🤷‍♀️

Eventually found our alternative meetup spot within view of the ceremonies. #RizalDay #Philippines #Manila #bikes #bicycles #cycling

Arrived at the police outpost where I'm meeting today's #BikeBuddy who graciously agreed to ride with me to the meetup point. #Cycling in #Manila is extra tricky for me. I'm willing to wait if it means I'll have company. He won't arrive for another 20 minutes, I think. He's going #bimodal and the metro starts running 5AM.

I survived another #bike event. 😊🙏 Though this time, I decided not to do the entire route. Because. Every time I join a group ride I come home suffering. 🤷‍♀️

But I still got a good workout out of it. Thank God for my #BikeBuddy. 😊🙏

So now I'm home. Too tired to prepare a proper meal. So I'm waiting for the #food delivery. And as you can imagine, I'm very hungry. 😅

Pretty sure they don't ride straight. Plenty of stoplights plus lunch stop.

I'm not in Manila. Hence the need for a #BikeBuddy for the long ride to the meetup. Many of them go bimodal to the meetup. I can't do that. I can't do long rides on the old 16" #bike. I'd have to use the PAS 26" -- too cumbersome for buses and only 20" max allowed on the light railway #trains.

Anyway, the ride got aborted due to an accident. They only went as far as Aguinaldo Shrine.

My best #BikeBuddy ride date ever! 🥰 So grateful they let me tag along. They even fetched me and then made sure I got back home alive. 😅

The whole trip was on #bikes! 🚴🚴🚴🚴 Didn't load my #bike in the car and drive to the ride location. Rode it all the way! If you know what a beginner* and 🐔 I am, that's pretty cool 😎

I had purchased a cheap old Japan surplus #FoldableBike and was using it for the first time for practice. Turns out it needed tightening somewhere. Didn't have the right wrench so we went to a bike shop. Good thing #BikeBuddy's hubby was with us and determined what was wrong* -- and it wasn't me! 🤪

What? Yeah yeah, I'm that dude with the gorgeous red gravel #bike. 🙄 Duh! 😅

After months of not riding my #bike, I finally got some practice again! #PracticeRide

Thanks to a new #bikebuddy and her hubby who kindly took me around campus! Yup. I wasn't just practicing at a vacant lot going in circles. I was out on the road! 😱

Forgot to turn on my #Strava app. Only recorded the way back. So I actually did about double of what the app shows.

And I didn't take any videos. Fussing with my crappy cam setup was the last thing on my mind. 🤪

Well, look how quickly the #weather is changing! 🤓 Used to say 90-ish percent chance of precipitation for Saturday and Sunday. Now it's at 70-ish percent.

Already made plans to #bike a bit on Sunday morning, on my own, with possibility* of meeting up with someone #cycling 26kms 😮 for quick #coffee. Then meeting up in the afternoon with #BikeBuddy. 🚲❤️

My last practice was too short.
Because. Y'know. Alone. Awkward.

Gonna make the next trip worth it and bike more. With longer breaks. ☝️😉

Still can't make smaller turns.
Still having trouble keeping the #bike straight.

This time I remembered to keep my fingers on the brakes ☝️ (which #BikeBuddy had to remind me so many times on Day 1 last week).

Oh, and I fell! 😅
Very minor #injury to my right knee.

First aid was alcohol spray and just lightly dusting the dirt off with my hanky.
I was wearing full-length jeans. 😉

After lunch i was trying to convince myself that I could go ride on my own. That I should* go practice. (#BikeBuddy's not available this Saturday.)

But #TheAwkwardCyclist in me thought: maybe I'll just go down install the extension bar and camera bracket I just ordered, and be ready to ride on Sunday.

Was thinking yesterday that I should try #cycling again this Monday. But I'm feeling [mildly] sore in my upper arms and back shoulder.

#BikeBuddy repeatedly told me "little by little". Ok. I'll take that advice. Next ride will be next weekend.

I'll do some walking instead. At a different mall -- maybe I can find a pair of not flashy, "rigid sole", available-in-my-size #shoes. Maybe not too* rigid, but at least not soft like my very old worn-out rubber shoes.

#BikeBuddy and I aren't meeting today. The rain is actually just a drizzle now. But we already decided to postpone.

A good thing actually, because in my hospital visit last week I forgot that I was also supposed to get an #xray. 😬 So I'm doing that today and hopefully the results will be ready by Tuesday when I see the #doctor again.

Well, #BikeBuddy hasn't cancelled. She's thinking of alternatives and will message me in the morning.

I better make solo plans. If we can't go riding then I'm doing my walking. 🚶🏻‍♀️🛍️🛒
