#Bicycled the ‘couve. In the central #Vancouver #Washington (uptown/downtown/waterfront/ #FtVancouver / #ClarkCollege ) area it was very very nice. Getting there not so much. Even the dedicated bikeways were mostly just sandwiched next to freeways or busy highways and were smelly, noisy and dirty. Other key connectors were poorly maintained #BikeLanes on busy streets. Sometimes I could find a quiet neighborhood street - but #ClarkCountyWA & #VancouverWA has a long way to go to be “#BikeFriendly”

For my final applied anthropology paper I'm working on what, if any, cultural factors keep American cities from becoming more bike-friendly, especially as it relates to commuting for work and daily life.
Obviously this is something I'm very interested in from the start, not only because I love cycling, but also because I come from a home where my dad used his bike for precisely all those things.

Bikes need to have physically separated lanes from cars or bike only lanes.
