I love it when I can add a #BiodiversityHeritageLibrary creator id to a #Wikidata item. I know that #BHL will make use of Wikidata to ingest other identifiers into their catalogue ensuring information about the author is improved.

@Pjobphd @alks So sorry. The resources I was referring to are biodiversity-specific and especially relevant for pre-1922 stuff. The #BiodiversityHeritageLibrary is the main one: https://biodiversitylibrary.org/ and includes the volumes of most zoological journals that are no longer under US copyright.
The availability of these 19th century materials online for free is part of what makes Wiley's efforts to get fees so shocking.
I recently co-authored a blog on the Biodiversity Heritage Library's efforts to round trip persistent identifiers via Wikidata. You can see it here https://blog.biodiversitylibrary.org/2023/02/round-tripping-persistent-identifiers-with-wikidata-query-service.html #BiodiversityHeritageLibrary #Wikidata #PIDs

@Edent #Linneaus in 1758 divided mankind into a range of races (or subspecies, the terms were indistinguishable): ferus (goes on all 4s), americanus (red), asianus (yellow or sallow), europeanus (white), africanus (black). Each is attributed one of the medieval humours.
Original Latin & Turton's English translation of 50 years later.

This is not a #map it's a #jellyfish โฆ no wait although it's a vaguely symmetrical blob and has long coloured lines dangling out of it, there is also writing on it so maybe it's not or
Might start collecting the fabulous bits of bot-generated #alttext on images from the #BiodiversityHeritageLibrary, in an invention by @samplereality I think.

The oceanic common #octopus (Octopus vulgaris) lives in tropical, subtropical, and temperate waters throughout the world. These #octopuses have three hearts, and they can change their coloration to match their environment.

#WomenInHistSciArt has been such a rewarding and ongoing research journey. These often unrecognized #WomenInScience created thousands of gorgeous illustrations that advanced science. My dynamic spreadsheet is updated with their names (and various iterations due to marriage) and links to their work in #BiodiversityHeritageLibrary. Have fun exploring! --> https://histsciart.com/womeninhistsciart/
