And what do "Angry Black Women" do? We channel that energy into trying to fix what we can.

Time for another Angry Black Woman thread, this time in honour of Erica Ifill.

We all know the rule:
The darker you are, the calmer white people need you to be.

โ
I ask her what she thinks about people who agree with her message, but believe her delivery is ineffective at best, and divisive at worst.

"Fuck my tone... My job is not to placate your feelings, right? Facts, not feelings. What happened to that?" she wonders.โ

This was inexplicably moving to me. So much so I teared up while I was eating lunch.

I have intellectually understood what the African diaspora meant/means but today was legit the first time I saw myself within it.

Like...The way he put it. The sixth African nation, dispersed, scattered, but still connected. Like an unwilling prodigal.

It hit me hard.

Tressie McMillan Cottom on spending Juneteenth with Black Oregonians and Portlanders.

(First...well, do I need to say it? I had no idea! None! Oregon wasn't really founded with diversity in mind, you know?)

Anyway. Her post is awesome. As always.

I am crying so many tears of laughter watching make jokes about the Montgomery brawl where white bros tried to hit a Black ferry operator and got their asses handed to them. This twitter account has collected most of the memes and the original videos.

Cannot believe melon husk is destroying such a joyful place.

This podcast ep has 2 of my fave voices in it: Sam Sanders (prev. It's Been a Minute on NPR) and Tressie McMillan Cottom (the MacArthur Genius and author of *Thicc*.)

They talk country music, race, and the hidden story of Black folks in country.

So smart.

2 miles with Benson this morning.

Sweaty but feeling really good. If you saw or heard a Black woman singing Stevie Nicks as she walked her dog through Rockridge, that was me.

I have to be on a Black Women's Equal Pay Day zoom later today so I intend to enjoy this morning fully.

Let's get it!

@minervakoenig Iโ€™m no Reddit power user or anything, I really only started lurking on a few support-group-like subs about a year ago so Iโ€™m no great authority. The questionable stuff, I know itโ€™s there, but I never saw it much. Pornsick jagoffs will be just fine since porn is everywhere, itโ€™s those support communities who are gonna be harmed by the platformโ€™s implosion. Same as with groups like and on the old site.
