#confession. I'm nervous about how my new #historicalfiction #ChildrensBook #BlackbeardsTreasure out in Jan. It is set in the #Caribbean in #18thCentury - just when the #TransatlanticSlaveTrade was getting more gruesome. It was a tightrope to not #whitewash #history, by giving characters unrealistic #progressive values, while still making my protagonist, Abigail, sympathetic. I worry I can upset people either way, for not representing the truth or for doing precisely that. Eeek.
