"Dare not? But you affront me so?" The king gestured to his men. "Behead him."

The next one was hanged, and the following one drowned. The king learned to read entrails and examine still-beating hearts, and yet the solution evaded him.

Finally, tarnished blade in hand, he frowned at the pile of corpses. "I must seek the answer further afield."
