It is disgraceful and shameful and sadly unsurprising that any president—whether Black or white, in addition to some Black congresspersons in Selma—comes to Selma to commemorate #BloodySunday and not call for that Klansman’s bridge he is speaking from to be renamed. DISGRACE.

"There is no british justice", questo lo slogan del cinquantesimo anniversario del massacro del Bloody Sunday del 30 gennaio 1972.
In un momento in cui, dopo la Brexit, le tensioni in Irlanda del Nord sono tornate ad aumentare e la prospettiva della definitiva unificazione irlandese non sembra più una chimera migliaia di repubblicani hanno ricordato per le strade di Derry quel tragico giorno di cinquant'anni fa.

Derry, Irlanda del Nord - Cinquant'anni fa i paracadutisti inglesi reprimevano nel sangue una manifestazione per i diritti civili e contro l'internamento senza processo. I soldati aprronoil fuoco contro una folla di manifestanti disarmati uccidendo 14 persone. Il massacro aumentò il nazionalismo irlandese della comunità cattolica e ingrossò a dismisura le fila dell'IRA.
