@ChrisMayLA6 It's quite interesting with Mitchell: on paper I prefer his Riverside albums (based on the bands/sidemen mostly), but when he took over the Horace Silver Quintet (w/Chick Corea and Al Foster), things really gelled. And some of the later Mainstream recordings are pretty cool, too!
One I've got a big soft spot for is "Funji Mama", the opener of the new quintet's first album:

A bit of a lukewarm review? No - the album invites and requites - but each thing has its level and must not be given more or less than is due. Disclaimers be damned. Listen. Groove. Enjoy.
3/3
Despite the grooviness there's no urgency (emergency)(emergence) here - but there is a rhythmic and melodic suppleness that makes up for any lack of vitalness. This kind of electrified setting, complete with effected guitar, is almost sonic wallpaper for ears conditioned by rock - mine - but there's enough jazzy-soulful insinuation and elevation to sustain intrigue.
2/2
By 1973, electricity and groove are inevitable, staple, central. Blue Mitchell is now not taking the stance of the hard bopper of earlier Blue Note albums, but with his craft and melodic sense unsullied, leads a band that includes the now default electric guitar, bass and piano (by Joe Sample) and plays a mix of soulful funk, funky jazz, and jazzy blues. Looking up the sidemen will yield links to Dr. John, John Mayall and Stevie Wonder, among others.

This morning's jazz record, Blue Mitchell -- Blue's Blues.
Fully embraces 1972; it recalls Sanford & Son, Fat Albert cartoons, Quincy Jones, the Crusaders (Joe Sample is on keyboards) even Sesame Street.
Funky, very old school, walking-down-the-street vibe.
John Mayall on harmonica.
