#NASA picks Bezos' #BlueOrigin to build lunar landers for moonwalkers https://phys.org/news/2023-05-nasa-bezos-blue-lunar-landers.html
"Bezos’ #BlueOrigin wins #NASA astronaut #moon lander contract to compete with SpaceX’s Starship" by @CNBC / @thesheetztweetz - Competition on lunar landers is result of a lawsuit over original sole-source contract. NASA has selected Blue Origin's National Team as the second Human Landing System lunar lander provider.
Their Blue Moon lander is planned to be used for the Artemis V mission, preceded by an uncrewed demonstration mission.

Looks like some major testing about to start at the #BlueOrigin factory. 📸 Me for WAI
#Starship will be the first orbital rocket🚀 launch from Texas.
Texas already had #space #history with #BlueOrigin crewed suborbital flights in Van Horn, #SpaceX uncrewed hopper & F9R landing tests in McGregor and #NASA Gemini/Apollo/Shuttle/ISS mission control in Houston.

As a space geek I will continue to root for the success of #BlueOrigin as right now we need more competition in the space arena.
#SpaceX, #Boeing & #LockheedMartin are the only realistic options right now (at least for the #UnitedStates 🇺🇸) to help make humanity a multi-planetary species.

Raumfahrt: Blue Origin stellt Solarzelle aus Mondstaub her (Golem.de)

With two #BlueOrigin 🇺🇸 BE-4 engines & SRB's this new #Ula #Vulcan rocket will produce up to 3.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff! Next stop ASOG ordinance bay then VIF, SPOC, DOC, finally SLC-41 for first flight certification launch. A great day for the teams @torybruno 🚀🇺🇸

@tdp so how about #BlueOrigin and #SierraSpace (achievements) ? Which other microlaunchers would you prefer ?

@Bongolian So you prefer those who buy a #yacht 🛥️ or an #island 🏝️ ? While #BlueOrigin hasn't achieved so much up to now, #SpaceX has significantly reduced the #LaunchCost (which #NASA #increased since #Apollo, inflation-adjusted)

At this point it kind of seems plausible that #BlueOrigin is paying #QElon to get #NASA to more heavily fund alternatives to #Starship.

Ja klar, wir brauchen unbedingt nochmal >3.000 #Satelliten, die Internet realisieren. Wir haben ja noch nicht genug davon.
Was sagen die #Astronomen dazu? Gibt das noch mehr #Lichtverschmutzung?
