So, in the end, I am not fond of the screenplay adaptation of Bones & All. Maybe I would have liked the film better if I hadn't read the book.

That said, the acting was delicious. Mark Rylance, man. Wow. That should have netted him an Oscar nom for Best Supporting Actor.

And I did so with Bones and All (USA) and Fear (Italy). The latter left me wanting a bit more dramatic engagement, although I did enjoy Ingrid Bergman's performance.

Bones and All made quite an impression though. Hard to categorise and took me by surprise in the best possible ways and starring two very engaging performances from Chalamet and Russell.

Call me old fashioned but I'm not posting end of year lists before the end of the year, too much still to see. Even then, I'll be nowhere close to having seen all the #films / TV that I'd like.

Eg #HorrorMovies I've not yet seen #Pearl (not out in UK til next year), #BonesAndAll, #CrimesOfTheFuture, #Watcher, #SpeakNoEvil, #Resurrection, #Hatching, #YouWontBeAlone, #EnysMen... and I've seen loads of good horror, it's been a great year

Bones and All (2022) von Luca Guadagnino. Guadagnino ist mir oft zu prätentiös, aber für diesen blutigen Young-Adult-Roadtrip wär ich mit 16 garantiert jeden Abend ins Kino gerannt. Die Story ist recht konventionell, doch der Film gewinnt gerade durch das Festhalten an Coming-of-Age-Motiven, die ganz wunderbar zum Kannibalismusthema passen. Ein stilsicherer Nostalgiefilter und der bisher beste Reznor/Ross Soundtrack tun den Rest.

Bones and All (2022) by Luca Guadagnino. I find Guadagnino unbearably pretentious but it's hard not to love this anthropophagous YA romance when it's trying so hard to impress me with a perfect combination of episodic road trips, artsy gore and the best Reznor/Ross score so far, throwing a fucking nostalgia fest for those of us who used to be edgy teens weirdly fond of morbid aesthetics. I just really felt it, you know?

Bones And All tröpfelt teilweise vor sich hin, ist aber durchaus ein gelungener Film. Wenn dann Mark Rylance ins Bild tritt, brechen bei mir alle Dämme. Er ist einfach grandios.
