I've started to read Norman Solomon's 'War Made Invisible: How America Hides the Human Toll of its Military Machine': https://bookrastinating.com/book/486298/s/war-made-invisible
6% in, the book provides relation through its simple language and many facts. The writing style is lovely: straightforward, illuminating, clarifying.

I just started reading Hassan Blasim's 'The Iraqi Christ'.
The start of the book is simple: a bunch of people gather to tell stories on a radio show. It's as though the author used this as a vehicle to tell a bunch of different stories, and they pass along quickly; it's not odd to see a small story arc start and end on one single page.

I've so far read a tenth of Josh Riedel's new novel 'Please Report Your Bug Here'. The story is based in tech–startup San Francisco.
Riedel is a talented storyteller. Set in 2010, the book casts a clear picture of a company that builds a dating app. People come to life, via the protagonist's thoughts and also through reflections on his manager's crazed wishes.
In real life, Riedel was the first employee at Instagram.

Halfway into this book: wow. Explosive, very Foster Wallace and 'The Green Man', although more hyperkinetic. In a good way.

I just started reading 'Acts of Desperation' by Megan Nolan: https://bookrastinating.com/book/135209/s/acts-of-desperation
Got this from #LykkeLi: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2022/nov/05/on-my-radar-lykke-li-cultural-highlights
Lykke said this about the book:
'I read this in one go. It’s about a relationship: in the beginning she is obsessed and head over heels, and then it turns destructive. I found it raw, honest, brutal and real – it shows how much we suffer just for the thought of having love in our lives. It’s refreshing to read a woman’s point of view, describing the complex relationship we have to our bodies, to food, to sex, and how easy it is for women to go down this spiral of obsession and desperation.'
