#Börek eigentlich auch nur türkische #Burritos

Throwback to the time in Utrecht, some twenty years ago, when the Turkish owners of a brand new specialty takeaway shop that aimed to pull in a more bourgeois clientele was explaining #börek — which you can get on every other street corner in Germany but wasn't common in Holland — to a suitably impressed middle-aged lady:

"a traditional, oven floor-baked Turkish dough dish filled with minced meat spiced in Turkish fashion"

Oooh, that does sound interesting, they cooed 🥰

Zuerst glaubte ich ja an einen Scherz - und dann hatte es keinen galaktischen #Börek mehr.
