@unchartedworlds excellent point about the ! Thank you. Also, i do try to make up for things, my own kind of “offsetting”. A few months ago i flew to my parents Golden Wedding (a weekend in btw two work weeks, couldn’t take longer holiday) but then gave a speech about the immense privilege, luck and of family, friends, large parties, citing and and many people read those afterwards 😊

I've just finished reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It was very deep, and thought provoking. It was quite a slow read, due to the subject matter, and also the small type face 🤣

I could only read a chapter a
night.

Next up is The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune.

Just finished listening to the audiobook of "Braiding Sweetgrass" narrated by author Robin Wall Kimmerer. I transported by the tale about our Earth told by a wise, warm and interesting friend. I did not want my reading journey to end!!! Luckily, it doesn't have to - I can live what I heard. Thank you.

One thing I’ve come across whilst reading is that indigenous languages have no gendered forms but instead everything is imbued with the animacy of becoming active through a verb and everything therefore is a being, engaging in activity and relationship to everything around it, and I’m floored by the memory of what one of my professors taught me in grad school coming back to me: Mitakuye Oyasin.

Dipping back into Kimmerer, Berger, Snyder and Haraway for a thing I'm writing.
I find it weird when people DON'T see the world as alive, as a subject, not an object.
Were you raised to see the world around you as alive, and important, or as something external over which you should impose your will?

Began reading this most amazing book a few nights ago. I'm into the third section of the first chapter, and finding it beautifully written, insightful and full of wisdom with regard to our relationships and connectedness to one another and the earth. Highly recommend.

Except from Returning the Gift, by Robin Wall Kimmerer: humansandnature.org/earth-ethi

"Gratitude may seem like weak tea given the desperate challenges that lie before us, but it is powerful medicine, much more than a simple thank you. Giving thanks implies recognition not only of the gift, but of the giver.... Gratitude propels the recognition of the personhood of all beings and challenges the fallacy of human exceptionalism."

@ossifog It's also of special note to me as I've been writing my book. At the start I asked my witchy friend for a magic book to do some research and she refused and told me to find one for myself.

I think I read the free samples of at least half a dozen and none of them seemed to fit. But really spoke to me. It's not a witch book, but it is a lot about the inherent energy of living things. I think it might be that book for me.

Opening my Keynote-app on the phone, I typed it, while thinking

‘Yes.
All flourishing IS mutual.
It cannot be done in solitude, because then it’s not flourishing.
Interconnection is a feature of Life on earth — and Death! The Life/Death/Life-cycle would break without one or the other — and without it, flourishing isn’t possible.’

Together in relationship it is!
