Small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK are completely unprepared for an impending “avalanche” of new EU regulations and taxes, according to a new business survey.

The British Chambers of Commerce is urging the government to improve communications with British businesses as they grapple with what industry is dubbing “Brexit 2.0” — divergence between EU and UK regulations and taxes that creates additional red tape at the border.

Prominent Brexiters are outraged after seeing thousands of EU flags waving during a rendition of “Rule, Britannia!” at a televised concert in London.

Last Night of the Proms — the BBC’s annual celebration of classical music — became an ideological battleground for Leave and Remain supporters when it kicked off on Saturday evening after people started waving the blue-and-yellow flags of the EU, which appeared to outnumber Union Jacks in the crowd.

It will sadly not be time to rejoin the for another 20 years. A campaign will go well until someone mentions that this time, in order to join, we will need to adopt the €. I’m fine with that already, but it will give the Brexis all the ammo they need to persuade the less aware voters to stay out unless they have lived the reality of . In order to win a rejoin referendum, Britain will need to be a good deal less arrogant, and that will take time and probably suffering. 🙁

@cyrilpedia funny thing is it's been sold triumphantly as "bespoke" deal (as I've predicted for other things ).

But it's nonsense - the bespoke bit is in case UK scientists are less successful than expected, they will pay less in. Reason it's nonsense is that historically the exact opposite was true - UK scientists were disproportionately successful & therefore UK a net beneficiary.

All smoke and mirrors to reverse needless harm done.

The European Network's Frances Cowell writes about how the rejoin campaign in Britain seems to be gathering steam. But where exactly is it going? If the answer seems obvious, it is much less so when you think about it.

Curious to see an explicit reference to working with the UK (as the only directly mentioned partner country) in the mission letter for the Commissioner Designate for Climate Action @wbhoekstra.

I've checked - this is not fully copy püaste but a new section, though the 2019 start of Commission mission letters by @vonderleyen
included a reference to working with the UK based on the Withdrawal Agreement. This phrasing is new.

I do not think it is being discussed at all politically or within train activism circles.

Also: I hope not. Having border controls for trains like that is just a stupid idea that should not be further encouraged.

Instead Britain could just develop a healther attitude towards .

Finally! Two related dividends announced today by UK Government: 1) more water pollution; and 2) higher food prices when import checks finally brought in.

Many British musicians say Brexit has cost them dearly with almost half of those surveyed saying they've less work in the EU and more than a quarter saying they have seen all their work in Europe dry up.

In a report, 'Paying the Price', the Independent Society of Musicians said those who are still working in Europe have seen a significant increase in costs with fees for visas, work permits and equipment carnets introduced since Brexit.
