I went to see Rina Sawayama at the O2 Academy Brixton earlier in the year and the experience was utterly miserable.

The venue was enormously overfilled and blazing hot. The crowds meant there was no way to realistically get to the bar to get anything to drink, which in the heat was awful. A guy near me had to leave as he had a panic attack and I felt unwell.

Completely unsurprised at the news of a crush there, I feel for the victims and hope they recover.

The forbidding aspect of Southwyck House was deliberately designed to muffle the roar of an eight lane, elevated motorway, planned to slash through #Brixton. Mercifully, it was never built, but other travesties like the elevated section of the A40 - the #Westway - give you an idea of a #London that might have been.
