Then it’s preparing for Spring (winter relents about mid February, last frost here towards the end of April).

The Granny Smith #apples continue to mature and are are currently about 1/3 to 1/2 their full size.
There’s a small area for growing #barley and it too is on its way in a few months.
The #BroadBeans are much closer to being #ripe.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned in a blogpost that ants 'farmed' blackfly on broad beans, which makes things worse. Today I got a good photo that depicts this exactly.

Havested a couple of kilos of #BroadBeans today. This ended up being about 830g shelled beans.
Some I've prepared for dinner tonight & tomorrow night (Broad Bean and Feta salad) and the rest I've lightly steamed and will go in the freezer.
With the other harvest last week, I've now had 1kg of shelled beans. Hoping for another kilo (shelled) from the crop!

Today I managed to harvest the first of the Broad Beans. I didn't have quite enough fresh beans for the recipe, so I threw in some frozen ones with french beans and broccoli too.
I made a simple Broad Bean, Bacon and Potato dish, with #garlic scapes and mint from the garden too. It tasted delish. And we have enough for tomorrow night - yay!
