From 1957, #BuddyHolly (guitar, vocal) and #JerryAllison (drums) lay down the demo-iest of demos (Buddy's vocals aren't even miked) of #BoDiddley's "Mona". It's deceptively simple until that first guitar solo (1:12), when Buddy turns Bo's original lick into Pete Townshend from ten years in the future.

They never did a proper recording of this one. Damn shame.

“Ojalá tu micro se congele” le dijo #BuddyHolly antes de partir, “entonces espero que tu avión se estrelle” respondió en forma de broma Waylon Jennings integrante de su banda que le había tocado ir por tierra. Fue el fin de un diálogo desgraciadamente profético. La avioneta “Beechcraft Bonanza” tenía capacidad para tres pasajeros. Allí iban el nombrado Holly, #RitchieValens y 'The Big Bopper' #Richardson. Salían de Clear Lake, Iowa y el destino era Moorhead, Minnesota. Pero el mal tiempo y la impericia del joven e inexperto piloto hicieron que el diablo metiera la cola. El avión se estrelló contra un maizal rodeado de un terrible silencio, todos sus ocupantes habían muerto. El 3 de febrero de 1959 tendría nombre propio “el día que murió la música”.

Algunos dicen que tener una corta carrera musical es un impedimento para ser considerado un grande. Sin dudas, la efímera pero prolífica experiencia que tuvo #BuddyHolly, quien hoy cumpliría años y falleció cuando contaba con solo 22 en el año 1959 tras un desafortunado accidente aéreo, echa por tierra este tipo de comentarios. Sin exagerar, tuvo preponderancia en toda la historia del rock influyendo en grupos que van desde Los Rolling Stones hasta Pearl Jam pasando, por ejemplo, por los Clash o Los Beatles. Éstos últimos, en épocas de Los Quarrymen, manifestaron su admiración haciendo un cover suyo en la que sería su primera grabación
