Further to my toot yesterday … #BuxtonOperaHouse once hosted three legends in a single evening. In the summer of 1925, the ballet company led by Anna Pavlova performed ‘Swan Lake’ at Buxton. Watching Pavlova’s dying swan were Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, who had been filming a few miles away at Haddon Hall. Not a bad claim to fame from a theatre in a small town in rural Derbyshire!
