Personally I use #CCBYNCSA to enshure a repo with vital data stays publicly accessible, espechally since "databases" are seperately considered copyrightable works in Germany!

IMHO the authors should have the freedom to choose the license they want based off their prosprective monetarization strategy, since in the end someone needs to keep the pantry filled as well as rent & utilities paid when maintaining it.
I choose #CCBYNCSA and #GPLv3 in several cases to avoid tivolization, but not always...

For example I deliberately chose to put some of my code under #GPLv3 or #CCBYNCSA just to deny it to big corporations and preventing them from paywalling improvements or access to it.
