Is "...and then the Fire Nation attacked" a trope in C-drama? It's impossible to stop that inner narrator while watching The Untamed, since the Wen clan (the antagonists) wears red/orange clothes and literally lives on a volcano.

Hm. The special effects in ep12 of The Untamed are truly "special". But they're better than Star Trek TOS, and those vibes kinda' make me happy.

Watching The Untamed, and true to form I get distracted by
•the question whether the robes are made from synthetics or silk (most likely the former)
•the garden layout
•that the guzheng has nylon strings
•that Xiao Zhan (Wei Wuxian) knows how to toot a floot - or at least pucker his lips as if he's playing one.

Plot is apparently of minor importance.

I only review after watching all of what's available of a show, so it'll be a while before I do that with The Untamed. But when Wei Wuxian comes to his senses in a room full of blood and divination spells, and thinks

"I was fine with being dead, why am I alive?"

...it's such a mood.

Got a Viki standard pass in time for Lunar New Year. As far as wuxia/xianxia my hypothesis about impractical sleeves seem to stand. But I think I have to make an addendum; in the case the sleeves _are_ practical the lower part of the arm has to be clad in leather, ie protection similar to Medieval European archers' wrist guards.

The #Korean #Chinese #Japanese film/tv industry seem to do a good job of bringing manga and animations to the big screen. Most US productions are imports or copies of theirs, and then not well done transferred to film (regardless of blockbuster status IMO). #film #television #KDramas #CDramas #KMovies #CMovies #JDramas #JMovies

I've seen 263 seasons of #tv this year, including 190 that finished airing in 2022. Nice.

US #tvshows still make up for 2/3 of what I watch; but it's way more #kdramas than last year. And sure, I only finished 3 #cdramas but one of them was really long!

#Netflix is still my most used streaming platform (those dating shows), but #AppleTV+ is getting stronger every year. Then there's the GMMs because, well, #thaibl. I'm still faithful to the US networks, and I'm really gonna miss #TheCW 💔
