Each year, the Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows hosts a two-day virtual summit that expands the boundaries and challenges the norms of Competitive Intelligence. This event is unlike any other event in our profession. If you are a Competitive Intelligence professional, you want to be with the Fellows 27 - 28 September.

This year's theme is "Competitive. Intelligence." We are going back to the foundational assumptions of the profession. What does it mean to be "competitive" in light of our rapidly-changing macro environments? How do we define "intelligence" in an era of AI and new understandings of the systems of human intelligence? As elemental as these questions may seem, now is the time to redefine them, adapt our methods, and expand the insight and foresight we deliver to aid decision-making.

Come to think of it, a lot of things this release brings are the best from GitHub. I don't mind this growth, because it will allow more people join the migration to #Codeberg and #Forgejo instances.

Trying to build a #Docker image inside #gitlab #CI based on another image using the #DependencyProxy. Nice idea but it seems like using the DP in your own Dockerfile is more complicated. 😔

This is a very fun story about how HBO leadership in the late 80’s and early 90’s navigated the competitive threats of home video rentals and broadcast TV to arrive at premiere original series such as The Sopranos. When I was a kid, HBO just showed movies over and over again. The HBO we know today came about because of competitive threats and executives who understood the threats and opportunities and turned them into a differentiated strategy that set HBO apart from their competition.

The CircleCI security incident is even bigger than I anticipated.

* Malware on a privileged user's laptop --> session cookie theft
* Infiltrated CCI systems, exfiltrated environment variables, keys, and tokens
* Although data are encrypted at-rest, the third party was able to extract encryption keys from a running process, possibly allowing all the data to be decrypted and read.

It's made for a rather busy several days while everything is re-secured and cleaned up.
