Today I am at the Norwegian Space Agency for a workshop on two future #Copernicus satellite missions: #CIMR (passive microwave) and #CRISTAL (altimeter).
We will discuss how #Norway can best prepare to use these satellites effectively when they fly in the late 2020s/early 2030s.
It takes time to prepare 😅.

Similar methodologies have been applied for Climate Data Records in the ESA CCI Sea Ice project (SSMIS) and can be adapted for the future Copernicus mission #CIMR
Tore Wulf (DMI) presents results from the ASIP sea-ice classification, using a CNN to combine #SAR and Passive Microwave data. Very relevant in preparation for #ROSEL and #CIMR. #IICWGDA11
@jgomezdans @trappmartin In Europe, the efforts on satellite-based retrieval have continued at a steady pace with the #FiduceEO project. #CCI teams and even new satellite missions (#CIMR, #TRUTH,...) try to embrace the #FiducEO approach all the way to geophysical products (Level-2).
It is hard, and sometimes an overkill, but with time we will get there.

I am exhausted at the end of two full days of #CIMR Mission Advisory Group meeting for ESA 😵.
But it is so nice to see the mission progressing, and to shift our focus slowly from the satellite itself towards the data processing and expected geophysical products.
Designing and building such a satellite requires so many bright people, and I am humbled to be bringing my small contribution as a #SeaIce scientist.
Now have a nice week-end !
@jgomezdans Indeed Jose ! #CIMR will record passive microwave brightness temperatures at L, C, X, Ku, and Ka.
More info on #CIMR at https://cimr.eu
AAAAAANNNNNNNND DONE !
My slides for reporting about our ESA-funded study towards prototype #CIMR Level-2 algorithms are ready 😀 .
We have the 18th #CIMR Mission Advisory Group tomorrow and Friday at ESTEC (and online).
For those who don't know, #CIMR is the #Copernicus Imaging Microwave Radiometer, a Passive Microwave satellite mission to fly in the Sentinel family from 2028/29.
I am part of the expert group advising ESA on the mission and this is such a thrill !
