@vantablack I listen and keep my doubts to myself because despite being a “cis man” I’ve been pulled aside and questioned by the TSA. I also know about the sorts of shenanigans in which the FBI indulged under J. Edgar Hoover (like #COINTELPRO) so I don’t trust the government to act in the best interests of all the people.

My long hair made me look suspicious to an underpaid and poorly trained agent who had never seen a metalhead in real life before.

I’m not a big podcast/YT consumer, but does anyone know of one that has covered historical state repression and things like #COINTELPRO + similar ops?

@briankrebs The FBI was the world leader in getting all our contacts. The FBI was reading Justin Raimondo's log files for years - to get the IP addresses of his visitors. The attached Guardian article is inaccurate because they didn't talk to him. He found an intruder regularly accessing the log files for his webserver at anti-war.com.
BY DESIGN, indymedia does not keep any logs - for this reason.

I often hear moderates talk about the FBI's bullshit like it's in the past. That "they used to be terrible but now they just hunt criminals," and that sort of shit.

This article is the perfect example to show them. The FBI thought BLM was enemy #1 in 2020. They were right, because the FBI is the enemy of the people. They're still up to their dirty tricks, just like the rest of the executive branch.

Genuinely terrifying read though, fuck feds.

I stumbled into this documentary about the kids who broke into a FBI office in 1971 and liberated a fuckton of files that led to the revelation of the COINTELPRO program.

Goes to show you what you can accomplish when you choose your collaborators carefully, and then simply keep your mouths shut. No-one was ever arrested and their identities only revealed 30 years later when they choose to go public.

Also, it must've been sweet to operate in the 1970's, before tedious security tech and the digital surveillance state made everything such a fuckin hassle.

This is the failed FBI War of Error.
I was just starting work on a project about the #FBI 50 year "War on Terror" that they secretly declared in 1972 with the forcible demise of #COINTELPRO which Ward Churchill argues may not have ever died. In 1981, the memo was made public. In 50 years, from 1972-2022 not one single terror attack has been prevented by this repressive replacement for #COINTELPRO that switched to an emphasis on electronic spying from the original mostly human approach. But once they are done spying on you, you may get to meet their agents. 🙄
