There's definitely something going on in #Ceredigion right now, which isn't reflected in Zoe's figures for the whole of #Cymru but is very stark in their county figures. I know a lot of people with cold symptoms, including myself. Most however - but *not all* - are testing negative for #Covid.
For me, it's no more than a mild sore throat and sinuses (Covid -ve). If it weren't for #UCURising I'd be in work today, but I'm glad of the excuse not to be.

@JoePajak Zoe data are quite interesting. Around the beginning of February they forecast a rise that would last until around the end of the month. That did sort of happen, though it was not much of a rise. ONS data are (as always) a little behind, but I think they agree; the rate of the rise in these figures appears to be slowing, suggesting and approaching peak. The new BA5 offspring variants seem not to have caused the feared damage.

Mae achosion yn cynyddu eto. Byddwch yn ofalus!
Cases are riding again. Be careful!

#Ceredigion still worst in Cymru, at around 1 in 18 people with an active infection. Mynwy not far behind though.

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Cases trending down still. Trend in deaths looks stalled again. Positivity a record low. Indicators for R slightly improved.
There were 190 cases reported today. Friday often tends to have higher figures than the rest of the week, but this week has been different. I can't see that this is because of reporting issues; by-sample-date data seems to be coming in at the usual speed.

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Cases trend down again, but I have some concern. The post-weekend rebound in deaths happened today, so deaths are up a little.
There were 195 cases recorded today. That's quite good; Thursdays are usually one of the higher days. However, my explanation for yesterday's high figure (more coming through from 2 days ago than usual), whilst true, was because there were actually more cases from Tuesday than the previous Tuesday (245, cf 244)

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
For the first time in a while, the 7-day cases average goes up. But don't panic (I have an explanation). Deaths down. Ceredigion records 0 cases for the 3rd day out of 4.
There were 225 cases recorded today. That's more than expected and significantly up on last Wednesday's 208. But looking at the sample dates shows that significantly more tests from 2 days ago have come through (163) than is usual (cf yesterday 91).

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Cases slightly down, deaths flat, positivity down, R closer to 1 than I am happy about.
There were 166 new cases reported today. It's great to see numbers down below 200, but this isn't quite as good as it looks; last Tuesday was 170. We can't afford to get complacent here. And although it's just 1 day, it serves as a timely warning.
7-day average: 197 - DOWN 1

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Zero deaths, for the first time since early October. Cases and positivity second lowest. Rolling average drops under 200/day. But Monday tends to report lower figures, so whilst good news, it's not as amazing as it sounds.
Cases: 164
That's second lowest only to yesterday's 152 post-peak. But Monday is often lower, and therefore the average doesn't fall very much. But, psychologically important maybe, the average drops under 200.
7-day average: 198 - DOWN 4

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Cases continue downwards. Positivity is at a record post-peak low. Deaths still trending down despite today seeing the highest reported value for a week.
Cases: 152
That's the lowest since 15th September.
7-day average: 202 - DOWN 14
That's the lowest since 18th September.
Yesterday barely saw anything of a drop. Data across the week go up and down, but it seems that what is happening is there's been a shift

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Cases down again, though there are signs that the rate of fall is slowing again. Deaths fall, with average deaths per day going under 10 for the first time since late October.
There were 195 cases recorded today. That seems like a very small week-on-week drop, with last Saturday having recorded 198. However, we're used to seeing figures from samples taken the beginning of the week coming through on Friday or Saturday.

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Cases still falling. R up a little. Positivity low. Deaths falling slowly. Steady progress.
There were 230 cases reported today. This is excellent for a Friday; in recent weeks (last week excepted), either Friday or Saturday have had the week's highest figure.
7-day average: 216 - DOWN 11
This is the lowest average since 19th September.
Positivity is at its second lowest post-peak, at 4.4 (lowest was last Saturday, 4.1).

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
It's a slightly disappointing set of results today. The fall continues, but not as fast as recent days. R is up. Positivity is the best news - it is down.
Reported deaths do not correspond with the total.
There were 267 cases reported today. Whilst that continues the downward trend, the last 2 days have seen a much slower rate of fall than the previous 5.
7-day average: 227 - DOWN 7

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
The downward trend in cases continues, though it is not quite so steep as we've seen the last few days. The trend in deaths remains stubbornly plateaued.
There were 208 cases reported today. Whilst this still represents a fall, it's more of the order we were seeing a week ago, rather than what we have become accustomed to in the last remarkable 5 days of data.
7-day average: 234 - DOWN 4

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
A new record low in cases, just 1 death, R still low. Ceredigion records zero cases.
170 cases is the lowest single day figure since 17th September. The 7-day average is at its lowest since 19th September.
7-day average: 238
Positivity is always high on a Tuesday (it's mostly weekend sample results, so fewer routine tests, so more likely to be positive). Given that, 6.1% is significantly lower than last Tuesday's 8.6%,...

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
The dramatic increase in the rate of fall of cases seen the last 2 days seems to be maintained, so it really looks like there's been a turnaround.
The deaths trend creeps up slightly.
247 cases is low for a Sunday. The next lowest of recent times was last Sunday, at 336. Given that this dramatic fall has been observed for 3 consecutive days, I think we can now assume it's real (unless something's badly wrong at PHW).
7-day average: 277 - DOWN 12

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Today's figures are again looking better, with cases being unusually low for a Friday. Patterns in the data have been very irregular of late, so it's more important than ever to look at longer term trends.
There were 308 cases reported today. Last time Friday had an unusually low figure (5th Feb), Saturday followed with an unusually high one, so I wouldn't be surprised to see 500+ tomorrow.
7-day average: 313 - DOWN 32

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Yesterday's figures (cases and deaths) were better than I had expected. Today is not so good, though it represents no more than a correction from yesterday. R remains uncomfortably close to 1, though positivity is at a record low.
There were 312 new cases reported today. After yesterday's 20 point fall, this is a 3 point rise. This is about where we would expect to be though, given the current R.
7-day average: 345 - UP 3

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
After yesterday's disappointing figures, today is a bit of a relief. Cases fall, R also falls a little but is still above 0.9. Deaths fall further.
There were 236 cases recorded today. That is the lowest figure recorded since 21st September. The 7-day average, which yesterday rose a little, falls again. In other words, yesterday was a bit of an outlier.
