We all live with internalized abelism, racism, sexism etc.
But if we are confronting this within ourselves and working to unlearn that, it is much easier to see how the governments #coviddenial / #vaxandrelax campaign is an extension of the state's willingness (and eagerness tbh) to continue to not only push the vulnerable pit of society, but abandon them completely.
This alone is the case for wearing a mask, even amid social pressure, even when the state tells you it's okay.
The state has proven time and time again they do not care about our health - they don't even pretend to by providing #healthcareforall.
Why would they bother protecting us from #COVID19 ?

One final thought:
There's a lot to unpack but in short - my upbringing has made it VERY difficult for me to trust and be vulnerable with my family (especially my parents) in any capacity.
It took years of working at repairing our relationship and building mutual trust and respect when I became an adult. There's a reason I left my home state at 19 and promised myself I would never move back.
#coviddenial within my immediate family has taken so much of that work and damaged it. My therapist is helping me process how this is impacting me and how to navigate this new challenge in my relationships because I do believe that if there is any hope of changing my families behavior to be more #covidcautious - it will take a trusted close person to them (i.e. their kid) to do that.
This doesn't change how much their denial of covid has damaged our relationships though. It is painful and heartbreaking and makes all those old wounds I thought I had healed feel fresh. Based on replies I know I am not alone.
Sending love to all of those dealing with similar. It isn't easy β‘
π§΅To this day, I am still somewhat in shock at how much #COVIDdenial within my immediate family has impacted how I interact with them.
Some context: My family all lives back east. My hometown is small and conservative. I've always been the person in my family who is a "rabble rouser" so to speak. I was raised in a catholic conservative household, and although my siblings and I have abandoned both of those things at varying levels much to my parents chagrin, I've always been the most "radical" of us all.
However, when #COVID19 came to the U.S. my family was 100% on board with the science. They masked, they locked down, and they took it very seriously in the beginning. My parents worried for their community members as well as family and friends.
Sad to see the excellent concept of the #15MinuteCity is getting the same dragging by reactionary promoters of epistemological uncertainty, division & stasis so as to render the term toxic and damage the concept by conflating it with an invented #climateLockdown.
The story-telling powers & media ownership of these bastards is so much stronger than that of progressives it really does serious harm. Same as with #covidDenial and #antiVax bullshit :(
