#Canada #CRTC #SocialMedia It was a stupid move on Canada's part IMHO. Prof. Geist has much to say about this on his blog.

Date limite: 2 juin.

I must admit that I thought this was obvious. If you stop linking to news due to Bill C-18, you stop the existing deals too.

Was last week's statement by the #CRTC Chair premature, prejudicing what should be an evidence-based determination by the Commission?

This post is supportive of Bill C-11 but the examples demonstrate the problems. Do we really want the CRTC parsing through user content feeds to decide the kind of content people get: a bit more French music, hands off home renovation videos, etc?

Someone tell the #CRTC that we've been here before, and been overpaying since.
The government has tried to assure digital creators they will get their chance to address user content regulation concerns at the CRTC. But now support for their participation may not available. Bill C-11 needs to be fixed *before* it gets to the CRTC.

"The big focus right now I would say, on pricing, is for the internet. Looking at that high speed access and wholesale… we need to come up with a better model. And we know that because it’s not having the desired effect. That’s clear.”
