The #CabinetOffice has decided not to hadn't over the unreacted material handed to them by #BorisJohnson & inset looks to be launching a legal challenge to control the evidence flow to the #CoronavirusInquiry.

Things are about to get very interesting.... and now I'm (also) waiting for @davidallengreen take on this.

This trial of (legal) strength will shape how the inquiry proceeds & how successful it will be at revealing what really went on in the decision-making.

Shapps is on manoeuvres for the leadership then. From GPLB:
"A cabinet minister has piled pressure on the government to hand over Boris Johnson’s unredacted WhatsApp messages to the Covid inquiry, saying it should be allowed to “get on with its job”.
Grant Shapps ... said there was “nothing to be shy or embarrassed about” for ministers who were trying their best to grapple with the first pandemic in a century."

Interesting passage in the Telegraph's front page story on Johnson and the Cabinet Office. Johnson's in full "I've done my homework like a good boy" mode while Sunak is doing the least convincing impression in recorded history of someone with a spine. Handbags at dawn. Or hand grenades.

They granted those requests for information in full just 39% of the time.

In 2005, they released all the information in response to two-thirds of requests.
