Great to hunt for Butcher's-broom, Ruscus aculeatus, in the Botanic Garden today, a strange plant, 'leaves' are really cladodes, flattened stems, & plants generally dioecious, tiny ♂️ & ♀️ flowers on different plants. Cladodes on males always look narrower to me. Some plants with ♂️ flowers but with berries so maybe better word is 'subdioecious'! 🤯

#introduction I'm an Investigator Scientist at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit at #CambridgeUniversity. I use #Structuralbiology and #Biochemistry to study respiratory complex I, using a range of techniques including single particle #CryoEM #Enzymekinetics and #Respirometry. In this role I am particularly interested in #Biguanide therapeutics, #Mitochondria, and workplace wellbeing.

I'm not just a scientist though, I like drawing and painting, and my favourite band is #Tool :)

We are challenging scientists from every fields & every level to infer what happened in an artificial world where a group of #Farmers replaced a group of #HunterGatherers . Its a game, open to anyone, using any #inference method as long as we can re-run the analysis ourself ( #OpenSource tools only, we won't pay a matlab licence to re-run your code 🙃 )
