la battaglia di #anchio
Comunque oh raga uno sforzo per il #CamelCase lo facciamo?

Friendly reminder to #SilentSunday posters to use #PascalCase or #camelCase so those using screen readers don’t get the hashtag read to them letter by letter.
And also please us #AltText to describe your image. It is a big help to those with screen readers, or those with low/no vision. Added bonus is letting you look deeper at your work.
#silentsunday #pascalcase #CamelCase #alttext
Olen varmaan vähän väsy tai jotain mutta just nyt naurattaa #PascalCase ja #camelCase
Kumpi on siis parempi? Cacce vai kameli housussa? :derp:
More boring stuff about me, as if you care.
If you don't use #AltText I won't boost your post, no matter how much I like it, or how clever it is. There are many folk here who are only partially sighted at best who rely on that. Don't be ableist.
Please use #CamelCase in your hashtags, it makes it SO much easier for those using screen readers.
If you don't like what I have to say, please do mute or block me. Nobody gives a shit. There is no algorithm. Your feed is yours to curate as you please.
@stella Plus, screen readers for accessibility can parse hashtags better when they are in #CamelCase. That should be the default here on Mastodon, where we normally pride ourselves on being accessible.

@LALegault
* Use alt-text on your images
* Use ContentWarning liberally
* Use #CamelCase in hashtags
* Favourite liberally
* Boost liberally
* Post what you love, not what you hate
* and as always, "Don't Be A Dick"
@Christo Agreed. My question is why only some hashtags autocomplete in #CamelCase and others do not. For instance, if I type "#camelc" then it autocompletes as "#CamelCase" but if I type "#supremec" it autocompletes as "#supremecourt" and I then have to edit to "#SupremeCourt"
#CamelCase #camelc #supremec #supremecourt
Can anybody explain why some hashtags autocomplete in #CamelCase and others do not? Does it depend on how it was originally posted or is it based on the number of people posting each way?
@MollyMcKew photo caption is of a Ukrainian Flag in a field. (For those with screen readers) #Caption #CamelCase
@Larissacomments1 #CamelCase is totally the way to go, is it your app giving you issues?
Welcome. I think the most useful tip is that #Hashtags are really important.
Search features focus more on hashtags. You can follow a hashtag. Also do an introduction post with hashtags over any particular word or phrase that has meaning to you or is an activity you enjoy. Then you can search the hashtag #introduction and meet new people with similar interests or a topic you are curious about. I personally recommend following people robustly. You can always mute or block them later if needed. These two actions will get your feed started. Unfortunately there are a few instances that may allow bad behavior or not enforce some kindness rules. If you find objectionable material you can block everyone on the instance with one click and not see that again.
My current favorite hashtags for me are:
#Mosstodon
#Lichensubscribe
#BloomScrolling
#ThickTrunkThursday
#Photography
#PhotoMonday
#News
#Ukraine
#Introductions
#FediTips
As a kindness to others a lot of content warnings, #AltText and #CamelCase
#hashtags #introduction #Mosstodon #lichensubscribe #bloomscrolling #thicktrunkthursday #photography #Photomonday #news #ukraine #introductions #feditips #alttext #CamelCase
@Ashley @evilsam Also, that hashtag really ought to be #CamelCase. C’mon, this is basic shit…
#CamelCase is actually camelCase, where the first letter of the first word is lower case and the following words start with an upper case. #PascalCase is where every word is capitalized.
But everyone should follow all your other advice, especially that photo description bit. Lots and lots of people use screen readers
New people: Welcome. Take your time looking around.
A couple of hints to help you be a good neighbor to those around you:
Use #CamelCase on hashtags.
Put #AltText on your images.
- If you can’t add it to the image, include it in the text of your post.
- Make it descriptive of what’s actually there. Say it’s a sandy beach, but add that there’s a few rocks breaking the surf, that there are trees just behind the sand, the waves are big or are gentle or are just ripples.
- You do not need to use “photo of” or “image of” because screen readers do that for you.
I myself only boost posts that have both of these things.
And I will die on this hill: #SilentSunday means you don’t add any commentary (that’s the “silent” part). Let the image speak for itself. The AltText can speak for you.
#CamelCase #alttext #silentsunday

Oh, and if you use hashtags, try to format them using #CamelCase. It's my understanding that screen reading software for blind users works better if you capitalise each word in the hashtag.
It can be difficult to do this when using the website, as the hashtag autocomplete will fight you every goddamned step of the way, but it's worth doing.
@ReneeDechert @NicoleCahill And we recommend people use #CamelCase for hashtags and #AltText for images for those #baseball fans who use screen readers.
