We went to the seaside today at St Andrews (yep next to the famous golf course)
We were very lucky with the weather and although it threatened we didn’t get wet!

Our #Dogs got bored of the beach so we explored the dunes and watched the BlowKarts https://www.blownaway.co.uk/landyachting as we had lunch

Some #WeirdCarMastodon action from my #RoadTrip this last week

From the proper campsite in the woods we spotted a VW T2 Transporter Viking Conversion with original interior and roof. Very much like our first #CamperVan
But this had a vinyl (not fabric) roof, fixed kitchen (ours was removable to lift outside) and a Porsche engine.

Then there was a couple of Morgans at the Kings Head Tealby. There were due to be my but I think the thunderstorms put them off coming out to play

Yeah! The #Roadtrek #CamperVan #Motorhome passed his annual MOT with no advisory again! Not bad for a massive hunk of 20 year old American iron.

Tame mechanic (and auto electrician) gave my re-wire of the main battery feeds a once over and the only problem he saw was I need to add some lagging where one wire passes close to the manifold. Easily sorted. So that’s good news too

@mrjalco I’m in the doghouse too, for not selling the Airtrek (mostly because it is not worth anything) to fund the #CamperVan #Solar install 🤣

@ZeKik @vwdasher haha That’s too common to be weird here. The VW T4 Compass Calypso #CamperVan on nice alloys in the mirror should definitely have got a mention though 😉

What A day.
Finally the weather looks ok, and we are both feeling well enough for a #VanLife #Roadtrek #RoadTrip in the #CamperVan to #Wales
So I spend the day getting the van ready then and at 18:30 the washing machine (secondhand but new to us 5 months ago) throws an error message.
Seems just to be a loose clip on the drum to pump rubber but but it was 22:00 before I’d figured everything back together.
Watched some UK Dragrace with D to wind down 😆

Expect many photos of countryside…

I’ve been re-wiring the main feeds between batteries and chargers etc

I more of less finished the install of the solar charger yesterday before today’s snow arrived 👍
Solar is working and harvested 400wh today 😁

Just need to re-do the wiring to batteries and shunt so that can monitor things properly as solar is not on the right side at the moment.

... But that can wait until the weather cheers up 😉

Well an impulse buy has turned out ok.

I wanted something to deflect air and branches over the solar panels so ordered this from Germany. It had a hell of a ride and was beaten up a little and lost it’s mounting bolts that I didn’t need. But all was forgiven when I offered it up.

Just needed to cut off its mounting brackets.

Not sure anything could fit there better👍

So a long day got the solar panels attached to the racking.
Just sorting the hinge / blot mechanisms so I can tilt the panels to clean under them, access wiring, and perhaps catch more sun too.
Hopefully wiring them up tomorrow will go smoothly too.

I’ve been a bit quiet in here and not very interactive the past week as I have a project on at the moment.
After 10 years owning the #Roadtrek #RV #Motorhome #CamperVan and avoiding putting #Solar panels on it, I’ve jumped in feet first and bought some with half a plan on how to mount the things to the complex roof profile 🤣
So today a load of aluminium arrived and I built a platform to work from.
Wish me luck 🫣
