I still call him Captain Marvel. Doesn't matter that there's a Captain Marvel for Marvel Comics. There was another Captain Marvel years ago who could split his body into a load of independently functioning bits. It was this guy first though.

My first exposure to Captain Marvel was the 1981 animated series. I don't remember it well, but I do recall very clearly how much I wanted to be Mary.
The next time was Crisis on Infinite Earths, which I think I read for the first time in 1987 or 1988, and which I reread every couple months for years.
The Marvel Family appear mainly in group shots. But Billy has this one amazing page.
Perez and Wolfman were an amazing team.

Over the course of the story, we find out that Captain Marvel is not a separate self (as Billy originally assumes), but him summoning her own future body.
At the climax of the second arc, future Billi is time-displaced, leading to her being summoned by her teenage self.
