As I hiked up a hillside last week, these tiny Black-capped Chickadees would quickly dash from tree to tree, seemingly always staying just out of reach of my camera. With a bit of patience, which I generally struggle to find, I finally snapped a couple of shots of one of them.

This intriguing fluffy seedhead captured my attention on a recent hike. There were several spots along the trail at about 7500 feet where I found these hiding amongst the green foliage under the Gambel oak trees. I have no clue what plant these seedheads are a part of, but they looked beautiful in the morning light, which was muted by a layer of clouds.
