More capybaras please
š„„ I've seen #Bunnies, #Racoons, #Capybaras, and other critter-every-hour accounts on the #Fediverse.
Who do I need to talk to for #Tardigrade and #Quokka every hour? š„„

@purplepadma Hi, Charlotte, I think you're not unique. I think part of it is so many of us are new here. But I note your interest in #Capybaras, and wonder if you heard the story of Bonnie and Clyde who escaped from our local High Park Zoo in Toronto some years ago. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/capybara-case-closed-with-bonnie-and-clyde-safely-back-home-at-high-park-zoo-1.3655886

@eloquence You had me at #Capybaras :) Could not agree more. Hubby has already gone to be and I'm up with my computer thinking to myself, just one more hashtag. :)
In 1982, a zookeeper at the Izu Shaboten Zoo in Shizuoka prefecture discovered thatĀ capybaras absolutely loved soaking in hot water, and the practice of providing them an onsen, or traditional Japanese hot springs, was born.
Every year for the winter solstice, zookeepers at multiple zoos across Japan soak capybaras in yuzu baths. The tradition started at Izu Shaboten Zoo in 1996 and has since taken off, though the practice has been usedĀ as a way to ward off illnessĀ for centuries.
