We often talk about the remaining #CarbonBudget to stay below 1.5°C or 2°C but seldom about who gets to use that budget. By any fair measure, whether it's by population or legacy CO₂ emissions, it's not the rich countries. We need to be at real zero CO₂ emissions now.

We know that there is a direct correlation between the levels of wealth and pollution.

With a limited carbon budget, I'm sure the world's wealthiest oligarchs have already decided: higher inequality across the world means the #CarbonBudget previously intended for most of humanity will be reassigned to the oligarchs instead.

Therefore, the plan is simple: stealing money from most of the world's population will also gift them a larger carbon budget.
