4/ in america? in this ongoing social climate? no. no. no. the damage done… at the beginning of a baby's life is immeasurable. the trauma endured through #childhood & into young adulthood... is also immeasurable. add having to be the #caregiver for white parents, and the devastation is complete.
when biological children do #eldercare for their #parents, there's an automatic understanding of the #family "unit" when strangers, the #medical community, or service ppl are involved. i've seen it...

3/ feigned familiarity, “ohhh… you do look like your #mother/#father… i just couldn’t tell bc you’re wearing that #mask.”
all my #life… i’ve struggled with people refusing to accept me bc i don’t “look like” my #family. in this most stressful time, as my #parents #caregiver… to be othered is awful. i hate it.
black & brown ppl wanting to #adopt white kids? fine. yes. agree. but, white ppl adopting interracially? in america? in this ongoing social climate? no. no. no. the damage done…

2/ with white #parents, but “looking” othered, i am subject to #microaggressions & outright #bigotry while acting as a #caregiver for my #mom & #dad. my #wife, my #BlackGirlMagic is subject to these, too
strangers treat us like suspicious #caregivers. the #medical community treats us like servants. service ppl treat us like afterthoughts. it adds to the stress… to constantly have to say, “i’m his/her daughter.” and, it’s exhausting to deal with the reactions, “ohhhhhh… you don’t look alike,” or…

if any of you ever wonder what it’s like to be a #caregiver doing #eldercare…

fr abt 2-pm until #kickoff, my #dad insisted he was just waiting for #halftime to end so he could “finish watching the game.” he couldn’t tell me which team won the #CoinToss, what was the score, or who were the announcers. he also insisted, for at least 6- hrs that it was “at least 8 o’clock.”
once the game started… he was asleep by 8:01

i think one of my #cats murdered my toilet #spider
the spider grew up on webs in my bathroom, & i’ve seen it every day for the better part of a yr
yesterday, there was a dead body, legs akimbo, abt the size of a grape lying under my dining room table
today, there’s no spider in my bathroom, behind the toilet
i’m actually upset by this
considering my #caregiver exp, doing #eldercare for my #parents, & how i feel like a hostage, this spider was like… my prison pet
i hope i’m wrong abt this “loss”

this one last night makes… 16 #ER visits in 15-months, for my #parents.

i’m falling apart.

i wish my wife and i had help.

during #covid…

my mother is back in the #hospital. out for just 17-days… and back in the ER waiting on admission. worried about catching covid again, from exposure in a #medical facility.

that’s 15 ER runs… in 15-months… btwn two #parents. my dad is still in the hospital, from his january 14th admit. so, we’ve had zero crisis days this year.

add the names of every #doctor involved in the care plan, and make sure you note what their culpable NEGLIGENCE costs your #family or you.

i wish i could find or think of a better, more severe word than #burnout. #caregiver #stress is burdensome, & i feel like... the word "burnout" is really weak. also, a word for "dead inside due to unending cascading #trauma" would be nice. sure, #ptsd & #cptsd are good labels, but... i can't think of a word that's strong or meaningful enough to describe the level of nothingness & "deadness" i experience, always.

america's attitude toward, & response to #healthcare & the #elderly is laughable.

if anyone wonders what it’s like to be a #caregiver doing #eldercare for ones #parents…

at the start of the yr, my #mother was hospitalized & caught #covid while an in-patient. my #father went to the #hospital 2-wks later, & caught covid while an in-patient. we avoided #SarsCoV2 for 3-yrs. but, half my #family was infected at the one place ppl should be able to trust & go to for help in an #emergency.

both of my parents are exp “brain fog” which should make my job more hellish. so, that’s fun

2/ it strips you of everything. so, you don’t care abt anything anymore.

i think this is the point of neglect in this country, to beat & break us all into apathy. generation after generation, the powerful and wealthy secure their family’s political & social inheritances by keeping the rest of us tired & traumatized, purposefully.

i feel this so hard

by the time you bury your loved one, after exhausting yourself, you have no energy or will left for anything else, even a concept of your own future. the exp of #eldercare is so brutal…
