His verdict: 100 Myrs, +/- a bunch. One can tweak numbers to get it up to 2 to 300 Myr, but that's far away from the "old age hypothesis" of having the rings since creation of Saturn, with an age of 4.5 billion years. #astrodon

#OTD in 2011, our #Cassini spacecraft took in this view of Saturn’s rings seen edge on, casting broad shadows on the planet’s cloud tops. Two moons, Epimetheus and Enceladus, can also be seen just below the ring plane, dwarfed by the immense planet.
