While she longs to be an earthy, wholesome rye, she is tormented by the realization she may be a two-day-old sourdough, with the texture of gristle, that a trendy cafe is passing off as the perfect accompaniment to avocado.

The spectre of balsamic haunts her and she has no recourse but to impersonate a chip buttie for the rest of the day.
