“Histone modifications are known to have long-term residual timing,” says Li. The alteration can persist, particularly in lung cells which have a longer lifespan than many other kinds of cells, he adds. Therefore, these epigenetic changes could be the molecular basis of long COVID, and further work could pave the way for therapeutic interventions, he says.”

Altered Speech May Be the First Sign of Parkinson's Disease:
Researchers attempted to identify early symptoms of Parkinson's disease using voice data. In their study, the researchers used artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze and assess speech signals, where calculations are done and diagnoses made in seconds rather than hours

5 years ago, we published my favorite (so far) science of my career @cellcellpress! It has, and still is, leading us into new and unknown territory! Excited to put out some follow up work soon that sheds some light on the function of Arc intercellular signaling...AND data on other genes that have retained similar virus-like biology, with implications for cancer and neurological diseases.

We're hiring a postdoc to study host-microbe interactions! Our integrative research program studies how the world's most common bacterial endosymbiont has become so successful. Much of it is to do with the bacteria's ability to make its host's sex lives all about them. If you think this sounds interesting, consider applying! Details are here: shropshirelab.com/job/postdoct.
