I presume the science people will take some samples, if it’s not too decomposed, so they can try and establish the cause of its death. They have not said what kind of whale in the article; but too many are dying because of plastics ingestion or other man-made toxins which polluted their environment and their food-chain.

That placement is unusual and specific to the initial experiments I did with the FaunaTag. In the wild, we normally attach tags to the animals' dorsal surfaces since that's what they present to us when coming up for a breath.
