Tipping Hats

when asked of the name of the rose
an echo replied

what’s in a name makes a decent soup
a lifetime of stirring things in
to own or disown

and though the smell some claim
would bring good appetite
regardless

we find some fools
did so vociferously lay claim
in filth and ambition

an echo replied
all roses upon that name shall ashen fade
