Our summer workshop is underway! #HRXS23, discussing High Resolution X-ray Spectroscopy, has brought researchers -- from students to distinguished experts -- to Cambridge to discuss the past, present, and future of high-res spectra with Chandra, as well as our friends at XMM, XRISM, and missions yet to come!

This weekend we celebrated our 24th Birthday! Since our launch on the Space Shuttle Columbia on July 23, 1999 (Eileen Collins commanding) we have been exploring the cosmos and bringing the high energy Universe into focus. Here's to 24 more years!

Do you think it's obvious who we are?
#AAS242 folks, the Chandra booth awaits! Come pick up the daily button and chat with the folks at your favorite NASA Flagship X-ray Observatory!

Are you at #AAS242? Be sure to swing by the #ChandraXray booth every day -- we have limited edition buttons for each day of the conference. Today's button is M101, a nearby spiral galaxy. With our excellent angular resolution, we are able to reveal the parts of this galaxy where energetic events are happening! #Astrodon

Follow the white arrow at the bottom of the image to spot a dwarf galaxy—M60-UCD1, one of the densest galaxies ever seen. Using data from the Hubble Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray Observatory, this composite image shows the large M60 galaxy and its much smaller companion: bit.ly/3Joaar0

The #ChandraXRay team is happy to be a part of the AAS HEAD and to be present at #HEAD20. Not only can you stop by our booth, but many of us are here as well -- reach out with your Chandra questions! We gathered for this photo just before Mark Bautz's Innovation Prize Talk celebrating his and Gordon Garmire's work on 40 years of ACIS.
Hello to everyone at @AAS_HEAD #HEAD20! The Chandra X-Ray Center is happy to have a booth, and we hope you swing by to say hi, pick up some swag, and ask whatever questions you have -- from how to get started with Chandra data to the nuances of your most complex analyses! #Astrodon #ChandraXRay

For further information, please see the original announcement concerning the anomaly: https://groups.google.com/a/cfa.harvard.edu/g/chandra-announce/c/xU-JkgAD0Vg/m/dqYqcfKwBgAJ; the follow-up from two weeks later: https://groups.google.com/a/cfa.harvard.edu/g/chandra-announce/c/uGepynsSipk/m/cC8GOdNDBwAJ; and the most recent previous update from this September: https://groups.google.com/a/cfa.harvard.edu/g/chandra-announce/c/7O064uJmQ4Y/m/UZiaCU1BAgAJ.
Summarizing these previous announcements: Last February, the HRC instrument was found to be in an anomalous state and was shut down. The issue was traced to the +/- 15 V power supply. #Chandra #ChandraXRay #ChandraScience

An update on the HRC Return to Science. A text version is available here: https://groups.google.com/a/cfa.harvard.edu/g/chandra-announce/c/XfWZdG8juMM/m/LLC1gdvGAQAJ
In short: following the anomaly of last year, science and engineering teams have devised a mode of operations that has been successful for four observations. This involves limiting durations of observing segments to 15 ks. We intend to begin scheduling HRC observations under these constraints the week of 06 March. #Chandra #ChandraXRay #ChandraScience #Astrophysics #Astrodon #Astronomy #NASA
