The wife of Bath is one of the most well known and most discussed characters in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. She also leaves a legacy that continues to the present day. In this book author Marion Turner takes a decidedly feminist approach in discussing the character in her own time and across the centuries.

My daughter is writing an essay about how Chaucer's "Wife of Bath's Tale" is a misguided attempt to #mansplain #feminism and I'm so here for it. #Chaucer #DaughtersKickAss #ImplodeThePatriarchy

It's National Forget Me Not Day (yes, really), so perhaps a good day to revisit the word "momblishness." It now means "muttering talk." But the word was supposed to be "moubliemies," part of "ne moubliemies," which is French for forget-me-not flowers.
#Chaucer wrote about "Ne m'oublie-mies." Then a 1532 publication changed it to "momblishness" and a 1721 dictionary defined the 1532 mistake as an "old" word meaning "talk, muttering." #oops
