I was wearing this top a year ago at #Chicon8 and what a great time that was. All the love to my fellow committee and staff and all the amazing members & guests we hosted in Chicago!

A year ago I spent the morning as part of a team building Hugo Award rockets for #Chicon8 and it is likely to remain one of my favourite Worldcon memories.

Late in the day, but I have nominated many things for this year's #HugoAwards

My reading at #Arisia2023 went well. It got rescheduled and then moved to a different room but, instead of only 10 minutes, I got 20 minutes. So I read 10 minutes of Better Angels and 10 minutes of Crossing the Streams (Part Four of Revin's Heart). It was well received and I also gave away some business cards and Airship Pirate ribbons (which have been a big hit here like they were at #chicon8.)

Since no one at #chicon8 save for one person (@SarahPinsker IIRC) has mentioned it and no one has taken pictures:

Let me say I regret missing my chance to get my hands on a ribbon of a rock with googly-eyes.

#Chicon8 thoughts: For as long as I've known Helen, she's been working on the idea of bringing another Worldcon to Chicago. She worked as a vice-chair for Chicon 7 in 2012, and always spoke of that as a transformative and special time.

It's incredibly irritating that @redbubble pulled the REAL @chicagoworldcon merch store days before #Chicon8, offered no rapid recourse, still has not restored the store, AND there are several fraudulent sellers of counterfeit Chicon 8 merch... ON. FUCKING. REDBUBBLE.

#Chicon8 was not my first Worldcon but it was the first one I worked on intentionally. I had the pleasure of supporting my beloved Helen as chair of the convention. I honestly don't know which of these signs of recognition is the most precious.

It’s over. #Chicon8 has ended, dissolved into its smaller, softer, slower constituent barcon parts. I’ve loved the company and the conversation, the food and the friendship, the books and the bonding. I will miss you all so terribly. 💜 Don’t be strangers. Keep your pens sharp.

Watching the #Chicon8 feedback panel, and some of the issues brought up are good and reasonable and helpful.

And some people... yikes on so many bikes.

It is great to see such consistent mask wearing in all the photos I have seen from #Chicon8
