All of these seem part of a similar universe: children at home & at school, often a bit perplexed by the adults' illogical world and/or their own emotions. The author's genius is to describe the predicaments of that world in a way that's both comical and emotionally true.
Dogs is kind of a sequel to Angeline, although they have different main characters. The other two might be one-offs. Of those four, I'd say my fave is the third, for the characterisation & for the unconditional-love plotline.
(I've also read & enjoyed the more famous "Holes". IIRC these ones follow younger children than the main characters in that.)

Fiction following three children (two Jewish, one not) and their very different pathways through Nazi Austria & Germany. Unlike _some_ tacky Holocaust-misinformation books, this story is a mix of things which really happened, and things which _could_ really have happened. So it's a valuable resource for young people to learn about that part of history, as well as an absorbing story. I liked it that there were three main characters: their three different fates give us a wider map of those times than any one view could offer.
