I dont understand YAML and referring to the YAML wiki doesnt help as much as i thought... I've also tried like 3 different ways to write the thing in and I cant think of how else to write it to get the IME switch to work.

The discovery of a #huge_fossilised_skull that was #wrapped_up and #hidden in a #Chinese_well nearly 90 #years ago has forced scientists to #rewrite the #story of #human_evolution.

Analysis of the remains has $revealed a new branch of the human family tree that points to a previously #unknown_sister_group more closely related to modern humans than the Neanderthals.

The extraordinary fossil has been named a #new_human_species, #Homo_longi or #Dragon_man, by #Chinese researchers, although other experts are more cautious about the designation.

“I think this is one of the most important #finds of the past 50 years,” said Prof Chris Stringer, research leader at the Natural History #Museum in #London, who worked on the project. “It’s a wonderfully #preserved_fossil.”

The skull appears to have a remarkable #backstory. According to the researchers, it was originally found in 1933 by Chinese laborer's building a #bridge over the #Songhua_River in #Harbin, in China’s northernmost province, #Heilongjiang, during the #Japanese occupation.

To keep the skull from #falling into #Japanese_hands it was #wrapped and hidden in an #abandoned_well, resurfacing only in 2018 after the man who hid it told his #grandson about it shortly #before he #died..

Chris Patten did have a lot of experience dealing with #china in the 1990s in his capacity as the last colonial Governor of #HongKong . His encouragement of direct #elections to the legislature and emphasis on social reform were not exactly appreciated by the #chinese authorities !

Learning #Chinese at 2X speed now compared to before - that is, 2 words per day instead of just one 😅

Still so slow that I feel I can't really notice the improvement... but looking back 6 months, I guess I have improved a little bit.

It was easier to feel motivated when I studied languahes (Japanese) full time, but I'm glad I've been able to keep up the studies for 6 months now without any breaks!

Ironically, I failed to do that before I became a parent, when I had more spare time 😂

It's traditional Chinese songs, performed in Welsh, through a mixture of traditionally western and Chinese instruments, by Welsh and Chinese musicians.

Which sounds odd, I know, but believe me, it is a beautifully thing.
