Curious if anyone knows any people or hashtags to follow for someone interested in Chinese culture and history? Right now most talk about China seems to be about news and politics and the more specific hashtags aren't very active, though I've been enjoying #chineseart.
Any suggestions?

Dragons appear in the mythology of many ancient cultures but nowhere else in the world was the creature quite so revered as in China. https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1125/the-dragon-in-ancient-china/ #History #China #ChineseArt #ChineseEmperor

Ancient China covered a vast and ever-changing geopolitical landscape, and the art it produced over three millennia is, unsurprisingly, just as varied. https://www.worldhistory.org/Chinese_Art/ #History #China #ChineseArt #ChineseCalligraphy

The art of the Han dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE) of ancient China is characterised by a new desire to represent everyday life and the stories from history and mythology familiar to all. https://www.worldhistory.org/article/1128/the-art-of-the-han-dynasty/ #History #Art #ChineseArt #HanDynasty

I post this knowing no one will much care, but since I majored in #ArtHistory in college I find this kind of thing very interesting. (Perhaps it's also because I wish I'd followed my dream to be a university professor, oh well. 😕)
Below is a link to a series of lectures on #ChineseArt. The lecturer is the late James Cahill. He was an eminent scholar and the first hour of the first lecture gives some insight to the world of art history scholarship. I'm a nerd, I know.😂

Paper and ink are substantial materials in eastern traditional painting. To transform this tradition, Chinese artist LiJin used them recreating the conception of eastern mythological roles like demen and western religious roles like Jesus and Santa Claus in one painting. The color is well balanced by dark and light, pieces of green and blue, majority warm white harmony tone, bright red deliver a stand out joy about Christmas. #merrychristmas #ChineseArt #contemporaryart #multiculture #artadvisor

冬至The winter solstice, one of the 24 solar terms, has been celebrated with dumplings by Chinese since from A.D.220. To honor the kindness of the greatest doctor Zhang zhongjing, who saved the poor’s life from suffering froze by filling medicine in dumplings and cooking for them. New York based Chinese contemporary artist Gu Wenda recreates the Chinese word 冬至,and represents its cultural meanings. #contemporaryart #ChineseCulture #the24solarterms #traditions #art #ChineseArt

To answer the obvious question...no, my avatar isn't me. Its from an exhibition of Chinese art at Saatchi gallery in London a number of years ago. One piece was "Old People's Home" by Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, which consists of 13 old men, who were once significant and are now reduced to trundling around the room in motorized wheelchairs. There was something that stuck with me, particularly with that one photo I use I've used as my avatar for years now.
