de Harlez, former professor at KU Leuven, should perhaps be better known among Chinese (esp Qing) historians. He translated various works; wrote voluminously about all sorts of topics inc histories of the Jurchen Jin Empire, of Neo-Confucianism, of color perception, and an introduction to Manchu.
