Pinder was a trailblazing #choreographer, associate professor at Lehman College in New York City and a movement analyst, who undertook anthropological studies of Balinese #culture and #dance and brought the art form back to the United States. This ... well, it's a classic that never fails to make me marvel at the jangly excellence of Robert Banas (that's him in front). He choreographed and performed this number in 1964 on a TV variety show.
He was a dancer in the 1961 film "West Side Story" — as a Jet, and many other projects and productions before and after. A varied and long career, with this clip showing just a bit of his verve.
