Da DE leider meist DauerEdge hat, wird das an den Schulen vermutlich so schnell nix. Eh es dort vernünftiges Internet gibt, vergehen vermutlich noch so 10 Jahre, dann ist es vermutlich schon zu spät.

#Chromebook laptops use #ChromeOS, not #Android exactly. Eventually I'm sure everything will run on #FuchsiaOS but it's not ready yet.

@LinuxClaude most likely can in the #Crostini #Linux container on #ChromeOS. I install a number of GUI apps including PHPStorm/VSCode/Steam in my ChromeOS Linux environment.

@devlin I actually rather enjoy the stability of #ChromeOS . The other plus is that I recently purchased a new #Chromebook and was able to migrate my entire #Linux container over to the new Chromebook with everything intact and new new Linux setup required.

@Odolyte I've booted the #ZorinOS Live USB and the first impression is great. In 5 minutes, I was able to customize the desktop just a bit to make it look and work much like her #ChromeOS setup. It's closer than what the default Gnome Shell would offer, so I think it's a winner.

I see it supports some basic tiling keyboard shorts like Super ⬆️⬅️➡️ to make a window full screen or half-screen.

@chris @bryanruby yeah, it's just the built-in #crostini Linux environment you can turn on. It used #LXD under-the-hood. The built-in #ChromeOS tools let you easily backup & restore the LXD container. My container is running #Debian 11(bullseye).

True! I actually run a #KDE environment on my #Linux laptop and customized it to give off a sort of #ChromeOS feel with the window titlebar and taskbar. Unfortunately it doesn't look as similar because #ChromeOS looks too much like #GNOME

Habe ein Acer #Chromebook 13 (CB5-311) zu verschenken. Funktioniert einwandfrei. 2 Ecken sind mal rausgebrochen und wurden sorgfältig wieder eingeklebt, stört nicht. Für das Gerät gibt es leider keine Updates mehr.

I love all the new #Apple hardware with Mac silicon, it's what I buy for personal use, but work is also offering HP Elite Dragonfly #Chromebooks (very nice) and I decided to go that route when refreshing my Intel MBP. My workflow is almost 100% browser based so the user experience is almost identical - with the Chrome OS route being slightly more streamlined. Hopping from device to device is better too. If you haven't tried #ChromeOS on nice hardware, or in a few years, you should.

Have to go thru all this decommissioned hardware and start formatting it to donate.

Have a bunch of servers, desktops, monitors and even some older apple workstations. I probably will reformat most of them to their original factory state but some are really old and would probably be better off with Neverware's Cloud ready ChromeOS installs.
