Превратил свой старый ноут, который побывал на нескольких системах (на windows10 (удалил из-за жутких тормозов, хотя наверное это из-за того, что не было должного обслуживания, недавно раскрыли с папой ноут и чуть не обосрались: там пыли больше чем скапливалось на экране моего старого ЭЛТ-телевизора LG 95 года, в итоге прочистили, вчера сменили термопасту, и ноутбук стал ноутбуком, а не пластиковым огрызком, которые еле-еле тянет восьмёрку), на linux mint'е, удалил из-за каких-то шестерёнок на панели задач, которые появились после установки темы Aero (да, на просторах интернета есть и такая тема), в итоге, спустя 8 месяцев мучений, я перешёл на 8.1 из-за дизайна, работала суперски, однако ж он начал вырубаться спустя 10 минут работы, а надо было всего-лишь продуть его и сменить термопасту, вчера вечером накатил ChromeOS Flex, работает нормально, теперь можно держать ноут на коленях.

Chrome OS Flex works fine on my 2007 Mac!
I sometimes find it hard to get the mac to boot from USB flashdrives, so I used another computer when I installed it on an SSD and put it in after the fact. WIFI works, but not Bluetooth.
It's been spray painted and gotten a Tux sticker to cover the Apple logo since Apple doesn't let me have a working Mac OS with an updated browser on it. It worked flawlessly with Xubuntu and Manjaro XFCE as well.

@probono @matthartley I think the main difference is the motherboard. It has the Titan C security chip that powers Verified Boot and other security features. #ChromeOS is very security hardened even down to the hardware level. FWIW, if you don't need the high security I'm sure you can install #ChromeOSFlex on a normal #Framework laptop. I'd certainly be interested to know if that works.

Anyone using crostini in #chromeos or #ChromeOSFlex and managed to add a second nvme drive to the machine and be able to mount it up to the penguin container (or a fresh lxc container through #termina)?

Intel sent me some optane ssds for testing but I can't seem to get them to be seen. Running flex on a nuc7.

@davidfield :) You can't on #ChromeOSFlex, though, at least for now. (And #ChromeOS is better without #Android, IMHO.)

For those who are curious about #Chromebooks should check out this deal. I have a #Lenovo Duet as my secondary Chromebook and it's nice to use for casual computer and a great introduction to #ChromeOS for a lot of people. Sure, you can just use #ChromeOSFlex on an old laptop for free but it won't have #Android apps or a good #tablet experience.

Ok...got the #kitty terminal set up and working inside of #crostini on #chromeosflex.

My install of #helix is now working w/ language servers and proper theme support.

Also: Damn, this thing is fast.

Houston, we have #chromeosflex running on my Huawei Matebook Pro.

#pop_os 22.04 was glitching just a little too much with this laptop.

Aside from having to use Chrome instead of Brave, this is pretty friggin' amazing. I love the continuity with my #pixel 6 Pro.

@minimlr @davidfield Yeah I think the #android app support is the only thing stopping me from using #ChromeOSFlex as a daily driver. That doesn't mean I don't want to get an old Windows laptop to play with it though.
